How to Survive the Swarm

Circle the pack, spend dash on surrounds, and buy the 49-cost powerups only when the ring closes.

How to Survive

Most Survive the Swarm deaths are geometry, not missing DPS. Cube insects fill the courtyard, the WAVE timer keeps ticking, and a straight sprint through the pack is a donation of HP. This page is the survival layer on top of the loop in How to Play: kiting, not getting surrounded, when to buy Team Invincibility or Stun All Enemies, and what high-wave clips actually show about revives. If you still need the HUD taught, start on Getting Started instead.

GeekOut Studio’s own direction is blunt: keep distance from attacking insects. Circle the pack rather than running through it. Weapons already auto-attack. Your health bar — 100/100 on Wave 1, later clips showing 116/120 — is the scoreboard for whether you obeyed that rule.

Kite the rim, not the diameter

A swarm of small blue cube bugs is a moving wall. Larger red bugs are the bricks that punish a tight turn. Walk a wide oval around the group so auto-attacks graze the edge while you vacuum purple crystals. Cutting across the middle looks brave and deletes the HP bar. If the oval shrinks, you are being herded; dash Shift/Space through a gap toward open grass, then rebuild the circle. The cooldown pip is for that rebuild, not for traveling faster between two bad spots.

Stone pillars on the grassy courtyards are kite posts. Drag the pack around a pillar so the far side of the swarm eats terrain while you walk the safe arc. Maps covers Trenchline and why a community Machine Gun run used the yard instead of a death corridor. Do not hug a wall with insects on three sides; walls shrink your oval until dash has nowhere to land.

If you play in a server toward the 60-player cap, other survivors are moving obstacles. A teammate who sprints through the pack pulls insects onto your rim. Give them a lane or take a new pillar. Team Invincibility is named for groups; it does not fix a teammate who treats the swarm as a tunnel.

Do not get surrounded

A surround is when blue cubes occupy every escape angle and the red ones sit on the dash line. Prevention is cheaper than the shop: keep the pack on one side of you, pick up crystals without reversing into the blob, and spend dash the moment the ring has one hole, not after it has zero. Standing still to watch the loadout bar is how surrounds start. Glance at weapon levels while you walk.

Some views show E ATTACK!. That prompt does not replace movement. If you stop to mash it inside a ring, you die with a full cooldown pip. Input caveats are on controls. Mobile tap UI still needs the same geometry — there is no tap that deletes a surround without dash or a powerup.

Hero choice changes how much HP you can spend on a bad line. Mage trades health for damage; the creator has said using her drops HP faster even though she fights strong. If your kite is sloppy, Mage turns a small surround into a wipe. Stay on the starter sword kit until the oval is a habit, then look at best heroes and builds.

When to buy stun or invincibility

The right-side shop lists Team Invincibility (30 seconds, cost 49) and Stun All Enemies (30 seconds, cost 49). Currency sits top-right. These are not Wave 1 toys and not a DPS rotation. Buy Stun All Enemies when the pack is about to close and you need a frozen window to walk out and rebuild the rim. Buy Team Invincibility when you or a group are already overlapping insects and dash is on cooldown — especially in a dense difficulty round.

Do not chain both every wave because 49 looks cheap. High-wave footage is long. You will want a 49 later more than you want a vanity stun on Wave 8. If crystals and upgrades are starving, spend the time vacuuming XP rather than shopping; the upgrades page explains why a level-up often prevents the next surround.

Loadout still matters at the rim. Boomerangs (yellow and red returning projectiles) let you hit while walking away. Machine Gun showed a community Trenchline clear at weapon level 5 by wave 76. Stacking several weapons is the point of the bottom-left bar — see weapons and the weapon tier list. None of them replace a broken circle.

High waves, difficulty rounds, and revives

Difficulty rounds exist. A public clip reached wave 92 with several revives. That is not a promise your first account will, and it is not a reason to treat death as a resource on Wave 12. Revives are a high-wave budget. Spend them when the timer, the shop, and dash are all wrong at once — not because you walked through blues to grab one crystal.

Wave count outruns level: Wave 22 with LVL 7 is a documented HUD. Plan as if the insects scale faster than your panel. Keep circling, keep collecting, and only then look at new weapons or a January 2026 turret announcement for future tools. Optional Robux can double some end-of-run rewards; it does not refund a surround you chose.

Before a push session, run the loadout checklist, skim codes, and keep Discord plus the GeekOut Studio group handy via wiki links. Survival in Survive the Swarm is a habit: oval, gap dash, shop only when the ring is real. The wave 92 clip is a stress test of that habit, not a different game.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Survive the Swarm on Roblox.

How do I stop dying to the insect swarm?

Circle the pack instead of running through it, dash Shift/Space through a gap, and use pillars as kite posts. Studio direction is keep distance. See maps for courtyard routing.

When should I buy Team Invincibility?

When you or a group are already overlapping insects and dash is down. It lasts 30 seconds and costs 49 currency. It is a panic window, not a Wave 1 purchase.

When should I buy Stun All Enemies?

When the pack is about to close and you need a frozen path out of the ring. Same 30 seconds and 49 cost as Team Invincibility. Do not spam it every wave.

Do high-wave runs use revives?

A public difficulty-round clip reached wave 92 with several revives. Treat revives as a late budget, not as a Wave 12 habit. The loop is still kiting plus auto-attack.

Does Mage make survival easier?

No. Mage hits hard and drops HP faster. Learn the starter sword oval first, then compare best heroes.

What should I read if movement still feels unclear?

Return to How to Play and controls. Then check upgrades so level-ups support the kite instead of greed.
