Upgrade Tier List

Survive the Swarm ranks upgrades in two places, and mixing them up is how runs die on Trenchline. The level-up panel fires as you collect purple XP crystals. The HUD shop sells panic buttons with a currency price. This page is a September 2026 community snapshot of those types, not a fake list of named mods. GeekOut Studio has not published an upgrade bible. We will not invent Pierce, Magnet, or similar labels. If a pickup is not a type we can see — extra projectile, weapon level, raw HP, shop stun, shop invulnerability — it is not graded here.

The game is a Roblox survivor-like: weapons auto-attack, you can hold several at once, and each weapon shows its own level on a bottom-left bar (wave 22 footage). An upgrade is valuable when it multiplies that bar, keeps you alive at about 100 HP on wave 1, or buys 30 seconds when the cube swarm closes. Pair this ranking with the upgrades guide for the how, the weapons ranking for what should be on the bar, and how to survive for the kite that makes any pick matter.

High — extra projectile and weapon level

Extra projectile is the clearest clear-speed lever we can name without inventing a title. Boomerangs already return through packs; more projectiles means more of the yellow and red lines cutting the blue swarm. Machine Gun already holds a line; extra shots make that line denser. Because the game aims for you, projectile count is time you do not spend standing still. When the level-up panel offers another projectile versus a cosmetic-feeling nothing, take the projectile.

Weapon level is the other high pick, and the wave 76 clip makes the case without a DPS spreadsheet. Step Phương’s Trenchline hold used Machine Gun level 5. Levels sit on the bottom-left bar per weapon. Feeding the tool that is already carrying — boomerangs for groups, Machine Gun for holdout — beats spreading points into the starter sword once ranged options exist. Multi-weapon loadouts are real; that does not mean every slot deserves equal XP. See community builds for how those templates spend levels, and the loadout checklist before a long session.

These two types sit in high tier because they scale with the survivor loop. Each wave adds insects. Extra shots and extra levels delete the new ring before it stacks on the old one. Raw HP does not delete the ring. Shop invulnerability does not delete the ring. You still need dash on Shift or Space; upgrades are not a movement replacement.

Mid — raw HP

Raw HP is honest. Wave 1 starts around 100 health. Cube insects nibble that bar down whether you are on the starter sword or on Mage. HP is mid rather than high because it does not speed clear. It buys mistakes. Take it when you are still learning the circle, when red bugs started connecting, or when you picked Mage and community notes already warn that HP drops faster. Skipping every HP pick to greed projectiles is how high-damage kits look brilliant for ten waves and then fold.

HP is also the pick that makes shop panic less mandatory. If you never need TEAM INVINCIBILITY, you can spend 49 currency elsewhere or save it. If you are constantly one bite from lobby, you have a kite problem first — fix it with how to survive and maps — and an HP problem second.

Situational / expensive — shop stun and Team Invincibility

The HUD shop is not the level-up panel. STUN ALL ENEMIES and TEAM INVINCIBILITY last 30 seconds and cost 49 currency. That is a lot of a run’s money for a timed button.

STUN ALL ENEMIES is a reset. The blue swarm and the larger red bugs freeze long enough to dash out, scoop purple XP, and re-open a kite path. It is strongest when the circle has already closed and you still have a high-tier gun on the bar. It is weakest when you buy it every time you feel nervous on wave 8.

TEAM INVINCIBILITY is the emergency. The name is what the HUD shows; keep it. Thirty seconds of not dying can save a Machine Gun holdout or a Mage who already spent the health budget. It does not teach spacing. If you mash it because melee range is the only plan, you have the wrong loadout — go back to boomerangs on the weapons list.

Both shop tools are situational A-for-saves, F-if-spammed. They are team-shaped: servers go to 60, so invulnerability that says TEAM is not a solo-only toy. They are still not a first-every-wave purchase. Codes that add currency — see the codes hub — do not change the rank; they only change how often you can afford a panic.

How to choose in the first ten levels

Early: extra projectile and the weapon level on whatever is already auto-attacking at range. Mid: slot HP if bites are landing. Late / dense waves: one shop stun or Team Invincibility when the ring is already wrong, then go back to feeding the bar. Mage players shift HP earlier. Sword-only players should still hunt a ranged tool before they hunt more sword levels — that is a weapons decision, explained on the weapons guide and new weapons notes.

This ranking will move after patches. Until GeekOut publishes named upgrade rows, refuse fake names and keep the four-type board: projectiles, weapon levels, HP, shop panic. That is the entire honest list for September 2026.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Survive the Swarm on Roblox.

Are these official upgrade names?

No. This page ranks types: extra projectile, weapon level, raw HP, and the HUD shop tools. We do not invent named mods. See the upgrades guide for how the panel behaves.

Should I always buy TEAM INVINCIBILITY?

No. TEAM INVINCIBILITY lasts 30 seconds and costs 49 currency. Save it for a closed circle. Movement still comes first — how to survive.

Why do weapon levels outrank raw HP?

A Trenchline run reached wave 76 with Machine Gun level 5. Levels multiply auto-attacks. HP buys mistakes but does not clear the next ring. Pair with the weapons ranking.

Do purple XP crystals count as an upgrade?

They fuel the level-up panel. Leaving them on the grass delays every pick. Routing for crystals belongs in maps and the loadout checklist.

Does Mage change the upgrade order?

Yes. Take raw HP earlier because the kit drops health faster. Details on Mage and best heroes.

Is STUN ALL ENEMIES a weapon?

No. It is a 30-second shop button at 49 currency. Rank it here, not on the weapons list. Use it to reopen a kite, not to replace boomerangs.
